SharePoint 2016 – Preview
Microsoft
published today SharePoint 2016 preview notes at https://technet.microsoft.com/en-us/library/cc303422%28v=office.16%29.aspx.
One of the new feature is ‘Mini Roles’, and it would be a
great handy tool for SharePoint farm administrator. It will help farm
administrator to define roles on each servers i.e. WFE, appServer, Distribution
Cache etc. Three primary benefit of this new feature are ‘Simplified
Deployment’, ‘Improved performance and reliability’, and ‘Simpler capacity
planing and farm scalability’.

Microsoft

· Standalone install mode
· ForeFront Identity Manager Client (FIM)
· Excel Services in SharePoint
· SharePoint BI Capabilities
· Tags and Notes features
· STSADM.exe (no more fun on unpublished stsadm
uninstall command)
Personally,
I found no logic to shut down couple of features so soon. Microsoft needs to
think and listen to the about broader audience and allow the mid/low level
farms to setup their mindset to migrate cloud. I believe it is going FAST
rather than a smooth way of letting the features down.
Finally,
MS team announced the Known Issues on SharePoint 2016 IT preview at https://technet.microsoft.com/EN-US/library/mt346109%28v=office.16%29.aspx.
I’ll not be surprised to found you another new apart from this list π
